A medley of her songs, showcasing the versatality of her playing. Like the pipe organ intro to Tocatto & Fugue.

Sorry Neutral, but I feel VM 'looks' better than she 'plays'
Poor thing is a confused soul !!! Does not know where her soul lies, western classical, pop, salsa or a mix of God only knows what !!!! :.

Thou shalt stoop to conquer.
I thought that V Mae would provide a great classical violin experience. But, well, she has 'stooped' to popular taste. Can't blame the poor pretty thing. He who pays the piper dictates the tune. And we audiophiles are too small a target audience for her.

Incidentally, if you guys had plopped the small change for her CD, you would have saved yourself the huge expense of attending her concert! If you have an Internet connection, do use YouTube to preview the artistes.

If you guys like violins, I would definitely recommend the works of Yehudi Menuhin. He knows exactly what he intends to achieve.

AMAZING AWESOME FANTASTIC

This is one CD every Indian (who can afford) should possess.
For audiophiles the bonus is:
1. Good recording (atleast by Indian standards)
2. Pure acoustic instruments played by the maestros themselves.
3. Lead vocals by again the maestros of maestros.

There couldnt have been a better tune than the National Anthem for such a concept. Just listened to NA 35 times.....feel like starting all over again

They have hair styles in common. But, VG is a more 'balanced' player. Plays his 'tukda' when given his 'chance' & then stays in the background.

I remember attending a concert of Ustad Vilayat Khan Saheb with Ustad Zakir Hussain on the Tabla.
Vilayat Khan was very inspired that evening & had the audience in thrall.
While exploring an unusual bandish, he paused for a couple of seconds-Bas, Zakir took that as an opportunity to display his virtuosity& launched off with a bang!
The audience gave a collective sigh-the spell had been broken.
Vilayat Khan Ji waved Zakir down imperiously, giving him an irritated look.
You can be sure that Zakir was quite subdued the rest of the performance and dared not try his usual explosive, attention gathering technique even when his turn was indicated!

Oscar Peterson - piano

Fantastic instrumental music. You will enjoy the blend of these 3 great musicians. It's great for Oscar's piano playing and the texture of Ray's double bass. Ed's drumming is good and not intrusive.

While on Oscar peterson, I would like to suggest two great albums by Oscar Peterson and Count Basie. This is sort of Piano jugalbandi (quite similar to what we have in Hindustani Classical music).

Albums are:

2> Satch and Josh.....Again
