Sonu Nigam - Kismat
One of the better Indian singers - worth a listen.

Sarah Vaughan - In The Land Of Hi-Fi
A voice that can soar like a bird. I also like the instrumentals. But is there a recording problem in this album? I can hear some harshness in the treble.

I think it was an airtel ad, but some legends [not all] of Indian Vocal Singing - sang the national anthem. It was superlative. I really loved it.
I wonder if there is an audiophile recording for the same. Would love to hear it on a good set up !! No Jokes. It came as an ad on TV yesterday. I really liked it a lot.

I have "back to back" jonny hodges and the Duke too. Definately recomended.

Nat Adderly "work song" album with Wes Montgomery, Bobby Timmons, Pearcy Heath, Sam Jones (Riverside). Not the best of them recordings but the music is fantastic. It has Wes Montgomery in his element on a few of tracks.

"This here is Bobby Timmons", another fantactic album.

Yes. Neutral. In fact she has sung a duet with Ciff Richard in his last album "Two's Company:The Duets". Very talented singer, was very popular in seventies and later had come out with some good Christian songs too.

Talking of Canadian singers any Gordon Lightfoot fans here?

Doc,

You just can't go wrong with any of the Led Zep albums...

Led Zep IV is their most successful album and definitely one of the most influential albums in rock history and contains the super-classic Stairway to Heaven. it is a must have...

I personally like Led Zep II & III. All these albums have a very characteristic sound, different from the others. Physical Graffiti is a rocking album but not their best effort (IMHO). Presence is a better album coz it has Achilles' Last Stand...one of my all time faves...

If you are getting into this band here's the order I would suggest -

Led Zep IV
Led Zep II
Led Zep III
Houses of the holy
Physical Graffiti
In through the out door
Once you have reached till here, you can pick up the rest of their works in any order

Completely agree with soulforged re Led Zep.
I have the box set & Vol IV is also my favourite.
Bhagwan, I have enjoying Fleetwood Macs' Rumours for over 2 decades-first on an LP, then on a cassette, & now on a CD.
IMO it is their best album.
The other 2 albums I mentioned are also excellent albums in their own right, but they can't touch Rumours, which remains one of my "desert Island " Albums.

Guys, try out "Hymns of the 49th Parallel"
by K D LANG.
This album was presented to me by Viren.
Kathryn Dawn Lang is a Canadian singer, not high profile like her Compatriot Celene Dion, but an amazing singer all the same.
This album of hers is very subtly orchestrated with the focus bang on her vocals & guitar and very musical & relaxing to listen to.
Could be used as an audition CD also, I find it that good.

hey, Led Zep I is missing, typo?...or u think maybe its too raw for the Doc?

My simple recommendation is not to buy the so called 'greatest hits' compilation albums of some bands/artists which makes little sense to me...

I personally feel it robs the essence of a studio album, some being concept albums...as soulforged mentioned, each will have a distinct sound...also one can realise how the band and their music has 'progressed' over years..
soulforged

Completely agree with you there Voodoo, 'Best of' albums generally do not provide the true essence of the band and mostly the compilations would contain either the greatest hits as per the charts or as per the rights to the songs that the label could get...

Led Zep I, IMHO, is strictly for the folx who are into the band and not the best album to begin your journey with. Thats the reason why I clubbed it with the 'rest of'...
