How many Frowns did you turn into Smiles this year ?

Hi guys,

There are a lot of companies who do try and give back to society a bit of what they have taken from it.

I am talking about mentoring under previledged children, teaching them an art or a trade, helping them finish their education and absorbing them into the companies fold.

I don't know if the companies you work for have such a program but if they don't won't it be nice to have one ?

I just got to hear from my wife that a kid she was mentoring as part of a program in her company is now working at the Four seasons hotel, learning to be a chef. his mentor there is the head chef of the asia region(a firang) and he is learning to cook italian food. He is studying after work at school. Many at the workplace help him with his studies. Even though he is now at this swank hotel he still comes to lookup his earlier mentors every month. Hasn't forgotten.
I was so thrilled to hear this. This is a guy of the street, brought up in an orphanage(you know how bad they are here), would have ended up in a street gang somewhere. But no, now he is at a luxury hotel, learning an art under an expert and now has the opportunity to have a future and a very respectable life.

My humble request, think about it guys, think about how much of a difference we can make to our sordid world.
