What an excellent start to the new year !
Got my music server started - finally after 2 weeks of 'down time'
This J River + WASAPI event style is 'simply too good' !
The Best / Cheapest up grade to my audio set up I have had in the past 12 ++ years...
I am really excited.
The change is tremendous.
All use it & only this version... It has to be tried [heard] to be believed...

Happy New Year to All !

Have an excellent 2011..

Likewise, wishing all of you in this forum a very Happy New Year, all the best for 2011 & many hrs of listening pleasure.

BTW, talking about new toys obtained for the Christmas/New year period: I bought a new Canon EOS 500D DSLR camera. It's a nice compact, feature-rich DSLR that allows full HD 1080 video clips. I am now looking for an everyday lens for it & I was very heavily leaning towards the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. What do some of the shutterbugs on this forum think of my lens choice?? Thanks.

Ani is the Expert Shutterbug in this forum and hopefully chime in

I have a Olympus lens system so do not know too much about Canon, butFor an everyday lens 15-85 might be ok but you might just be happier with a 18-200 lens as they take care of everyday shooting with a decent zoom as well. Since cannon has a Crop Factorof 1.5, this is equivalent to 27mm to 300mm in Films which si pretty good.
you could always get a 10-22 later if you really want to shoot really wide (landscapes etc).

the key to this hobby is that you have not bought into a camera but into a Lens system. YOu need not buy the best of cameras but it makes sense to buy the best lens you can afford to budget as camera bodies wil change over time but your lenses will be permanently with you.

so if you can afford to get a lens which is faster (ie instead of a 3.5-5.4, a constant f2.8) you will get better shots

but be warned..this can be a $$$ sucking hobby too .. the visual equivalent of audiophiles

Thanx Arj. yes, I gathered that I was buying into a lens system & that's why I bought just the body without the kit lens (which has gotten mostly poor reviews by the pros & the user community).
where's Ani when we need him...........?????
