hey verynewone......

i am sure its for marantz only.....as i am looking to buy the marantz so have surveyed the whole market

i donot know bout boston as i didnt wanna buy them so hadnt gone into depth of these things......ya sharda motora have gone down on the prices but how bout quoting 52k for a marantz 4500 when launched and now quoting 30k for the same with bill.....does that still seem marginally high price compared to the US market

so comparing i dont think they wud have come down on the products they deal with.......any distributor for that matter wudnt invest a lot for the distributorship paying a hefty amount to get the distributorship and getting a container full of products and stocking a huge numbers......and blocking a lot of money in the stocks as these are not that fast moving products as LG,samsung,sony,etc,etc.......

i went thru the prices in Mumbai for amplifiers(receivers) and found them to be twice the prices in the US.
is there a 100% duty on these electronic items?
Do You guys know of any grey market but genuine shops where You get yamaha,harman kardon etc etc

A price reduction of 22k which is over 40%. Maybe their margins increased because of improved distribution network, lowered transportation costs, and more ppl showing interest on the HT front :). All the more important for us to bring more ppl into this fold

Dear forum dudes, the silly thing on the Marantz deal is that India comes under the European HQ, and not Asia HQ.This single issue messes up the prices of the excellent Marantz products is India.Too bad as the grey guys kill the official channel because of this.

i was talking about the prices of receivers(amplifiers) only and that too for Mumbai,the prices of speakers are OK,
in fact the speakers are priced same as in the US for example polk audio.
the yamaha HTR-5830SL is priced at just $199 on the US site, see the URL(

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat03031&type=category) which turns out to be Rs.8756/-
whereas it is sold at around Rs.16,000 in India.
same is true for all other amplifiers like harman kardon,sony etc.
wanted to know ur experiences with Indian Speaker companies like
space ,pandam etc.has anyone tried them out.
can somebody comment on Indian apmlifiers as well

Hi guys...

i m really new to this forum, but none the less a music buff and a technology freak...
i m planning to part ways with my good ol' Kenwood mini-hifi and replace it a decent enuf HT.

I already have a 100W rms Kenwood powered subwoofer and a Grundig DVD player.

i wanna add up a decent sounding AV receiver (5.1 ch) and 5 speakers...i will retain my woofer.

my budget is around 30K (receiver + speakers)

pls suggest....also incase u know any reliable dealers in mumbai pls lemme know..

hey nindo.....

for ur budget the only best package u cud get is the onkyo Ht570 HTIB and the new Gladiator series.......just listen to them once before u maje any decisions.....

Check out the Sonodyne Cinique package......one of the best in 30k budget.

yes cinque is one of the best-
the other day i also say a yamaha receiver 357
and a wharfedale 60+ speaker package for 31k in the grey market-
not a bad deal i felt-

Hi guys,
I want some advice on the Sony receiver STR-DE-497. I saw it in the Sony catalog. They have entry level speakers MF-550 I think. As I'll be buying only two speakers now, the whole package works out around Rs.22k. Is it worth it?
I listen to a bit of classical music ( soft variety Chopin, Debussy etc )and occasionally pop music. Is it OK for this kind of use?
