BTW, what is the average cost of SACD in India? I came across this forum couple of months ago and was shocked (and happy) that the audio industry in India has opened up. I came to US in 2002 and am not in touch with the Indian audio scene.

But I am very happy that I will get the same audio hardware that I am getting here.

Average cost of SACD is Rs.450/-. I recently purchased Diana Krall SACD "The look of Love" but was not impressed. There is no audiophile quality to that CD.

Shall be on the lookout for these labels you've suggested.

Nice to hear that the avg cost is Rs.450. This is absolutely great. I was thinking it should be about Rs 600.

Thanks Sharukh, I read thru the entire discussion and am glad many people have experienced the same. However a friend of mine who owns a Denon universal player (do not have the model no.)has a switch on the player to select the CD format at will if not set to "Auto". In short you can force the machine to play the red book layer on a Hybrid CD if selected. He claims that there is a notable difference in the sound when switched from ACD to SACD. The sound opens up and has better focus.

I for one have not been able to verify this claim.

Frankly, I don't think it's the source that matters so much here. I've been made to understand that Hybrid SACDs have a "purposely poorly recorded Redbook layer". Take the very same Norah Jones album for instance. Listen to the CD layer on the SACD, then listen to the redbook CD version (try and get an originally recorded piece, preferebly in the EU. The Indian copies suck). You'll notice the difference immediately. In fact, try it on your friend's Denon and see.
