I was thinking of exploring some new music, and was going through some western classical stuff that I have. (well, mp3s, mostly). Couldn't figure out where to start.

I've got a bunch of albums (err...are they called albums? ) by beethoven, mozart, bach, and some others. Sorry for the complete noobiness, but could anyone suggest a few...err...(compositions?) , for me to start with?

I only know of Fur Elise. Thats the limit of my knowledge regarding western classical.

Hi !

I will try to make as few a reccomendations as possible. Here are a few that you could start with:

-Carmina Burana by Carl Orff - performed by Berliner Philharmoniker orchestra & conducted by Sir Simon Rattle

-Four Seasons by Vivaldi - performed by Berliner Philharminiker Orchestra & conducted by Herbert von Karajan

You don't. Just ask her to hear the melodious tunes and am sure she'll like it better than Rock n Roll..... After all, its pure acoustic music here. It doesn't ear-bleed.....

Give her a choice between between Mozart & Metallica !!!!

Play it low in the begining, let everyone get used to it and then play it at levels that you want to hear. Sit close to speakers.

That's real romantic music composed for a lover. Great scale.

Also consider 'Rachmaninov plays Rachmaninov'
'The Romantic Schubert'
For softer peaks, 'Listen with your Heart'
