Snv That's good. Was browsing a few components and a dac and cd player has output impedance spec at 10k ohms. What's with that spec ? Manek |

Hi Manek, Well Advance Acoustic claims so apparently. Their new cd player/dac and the integrated amplifier have an output and input impedance of 10k ohms respectively. What precisely did you want to know Manek? Regards SNV |

This is the second time I have seen a source component's output impedance specified so high ! Tube or SS. The last time it was Jolida cdp at 47kohms,2v. I have seen output impedances of tube source equipment specified upto 1200 ohms and those were considered high. How would that AA source be able to properly drive a amp(AA or other than an AA amp) with 10kohm-47kohm input impedance without additional distortion when the industry accepted ratio of source and target impedances ought to be 1:20 ? Bombaywalla, ampnut and I have had this conversation earlier about jolida and decided that it was to be read as output of 2v would be achieved if the component the jolida cdp was connected to had an input impedance of 47kohms. Then someone from the group wrote to jolida and got the ceo's reply that's its a typo and its actually 47ohms(inspite of a tube output stage). Jolida had not corrected it inspite if being a typo. SNV can I interpret that spec as, the dac will output 1.8v with a 10kohm load ? Or is it another typo ? Bombaywalla, ampnut another instance. Any inputs ? Is this way of specifying getting more common ? Manek [Beitrag von Manek am 02. Sep 2011, 12:04 bearbeitet] |

Manek, I speculate that its a typo in this case too... |

Manek, I'm with Amp_Nut on this as well. it's the MCX 300 unit. It seems ludicrous that AA would specify a 10K output impedance for a unit that has a solid state output. No way! you'd have to try very hard to create a 10K output impedance w/ a s.s. output.... could it mean that the next stage needs a minimum of 10K input impedance so as not to load down the MCX 300 unit? just guessing here........:? |

Bombaywalla wrote could it mean that the next stage needs a minimum of 10K input impedance so as not to load down the MCX 300 unit? just guessing here........ Bombaywalla, actually wouldn't it be nice if manufacturers wrote it down as simply as you said it ? I for one would immensely appreciate it, knowing a little more about the operating parameters. I don't know how others would view it though. But that's a conversation for another thread. Manek ? |
