Shipping Speakers to Australia

A retired gentleman purchased audio speakers of his liking here in India. He has all the bills and documents in place. He is now emigrating to Australia to stay with his daughters, and wants to take these speakers to Australia for self-use. Since he is initially going on a one year visa, he is being allowed to carry limited personal baggage with him. As and when he gets the citizenship, he will take the rest of his belongings in a container from here.

Now comes the problem:

He wants to somehow take his speakers to Australia without waiting further. How can the speakers be shipped to him in Australia without violating any law? What would be the most economical way to do this, and how much it would cost?

from what i know, there are 2 factors here
1. export from india: he needs to have a signed/stamped form from customs describing the speakers with serial nos. this is to ensure he is not charged customs when he brings it back

2 Import into Oz. He has to check with the aussie authorities on their rules for import. as far as i remember there is no import duty there , but requierd to check (he may need to have a declation of proof of personal use)

transportation costs vary depending on agents. try to find out a good freight/forwarder in your city. should be available via the yellow pages or internet.

could range between 2-4 $ per kg (it depends in the max of weight or volume converted to weight..shippers have their own formula)

Thank you Arj! I could get a list of freight-forwarders in Bangalore by Googling on the net. Will be handing it over to the gentleman concerned along with your tips.
