Which Blue Ray Disc Player?

Sanjay have you looked at the Play Station 3? Superb Blu Ray player and great games. A no brainer if I had kids at home.

PS 3 is the best 'vmf' product you can get;

All said, its ability as an all out BR Player is rather limited.

First, I need to know, what is 'display device' ? What do you use & what is its resolution.
If you do not have 1090 X 1920 a BR Player will not show its 'true potential'
The Good - Player is from Panasonic & Pioneer. Not so sure if you will get them in India.

PS3 does not offer 1920 x 1080, but soon a software upgrade will be available for the same.

Blu Ray players are not multi region and cannot be hacked, not yet.

The best thing to do is source the same from US, since most titles are available in the US.

As Bhagwan rightly suggested, Panasonic and Pioneer are good.

I will be using the Blue Ray Disc Player primarily on

nullSony Bravia KLV-46W400A which is 46" full HD 1920X1080p LCD TV

and also sometimes on

Panasonic Viera TH-50PV70H which is 50" full HD plasma TV 1366x768

I'm waiting for your advice.

SNV are you sure? My dealer told me the PS3 is full HD.

I stand corrected. Yes with the new firmware upgrades it does output 1080p now.
Also with the latest firmware 2.3 and 2.4 version, it will transmit DTS Master Audio.
Just ensure that you update the ps3 till the 2.41 version.

Sorry to go off here - but why a 46" LCD ?
Pioneer Kuro is what you should have taken - 50" Plasma.

If you needed a LCD [I hate it] then the Sharp is what you should have taken.

I suggest you get a OPPO Digital from SOM in ND & also a B.R. Player from Panasonic or Pioneer. But they will become redundent in a bit - models will keep changing very very soon.

I really wanted to go for Pioneer Kuro but the availability and service in Delhi is awful. And since we already had a plasma at our parent's floor, so I wanted to buy the second as LCD.

Moreover, I did go to various showrooms and checked out various brand and found Bravia (nearly) the best.

I know the Blue Ray Disc player models will change & be updated frequently, but I don't want to waste time waiting for a "dream" model to realize that my display has become outdate / old !!!

Can you tell me more about region coding in Blue Ray Disc Players?
