Denon vs Marantz.....which is better??

what is the price of the Sonodyne Genie 2 speakers?

would it not be beetter for you to go for a good pair of front speakers plus a sub and add the rest later.

Regarding the receivers, i defintely liked the Maratnz. Better than the Denon in almost all respects.
I think Audio PLanet are the dealers for MArantz. haven't found out about the service though.
However, mr. Palani is a knowledgable chap and i think its safe to buy the Marantz from him. He also carries out servicing of otehr brands so i guess service would not be a problem.

do go over the warranty with both dealers(Denon and Marantz) to find out if they offer only a limited warranty or a replacement warrty, warranty only on some criticla parts or if the whole thing is covered.

The Sonodyne Genie-2 speakers(sats) plus the Roarr 2815 sub (5.1 setup) wud be around Rs.50,000.
The hall in my house is a lil too small.....even bookshelves on stands wud take up a lot of space. Thats why I am sticking to Sats.

then i strongly recommend you try the Defnitive Trechnology Pro Cinema 100 or 200 series..
Must cost around 40000 to 48000 for 5 speakers and a sub.

The sub is unbelievable and the pro cinema series is one of the best HT packages in the sub 1000$ bracket.

The Marantz $500 or the 4600 should fit aplty with these.

Any dealers in Bangalore? Warranty and service backup is one of the main things I lookout for.

there is a dealer in bangalore..i think Abhi has his number.

warranty is assured by def tech..and its a direct warranty from the company.
sepeartate warranties for drivers and the sub amp.
i think the sub driver has a warranty of 5 years and the amp o2 or 3 years.
besides, these are manufactured in USA.unlike others who manufacuter in China.

Also, they use Vifa drivers.

sachi, I am right now in the US. is it a good idea to get the speakers and sub from here? will there be a current difference (120V / 240V) when i get speakers from here to india?
i checked out the AV receivers and all of em run at 110-120V. so i plan to buy that in india.

The satellites and the center is not a problem. u can pick them up there(check if the warranty is an international one).

Also, i don't think the sub can be operated here in India.
There is no mains switch in the back to switch between 120 and 230 mains.
At least mine does not have one.

Actually i think the price of the Procinema 100 series is pretty much the same back here in India. Would save you the trouble of hauling it all the way frmo there and save big on customs.
The Def Techs are any day better for your needs IMHO.
