How much an audiophile grade CDP(May be:NAD521BEE) can contribute to an entry level Integrated amp. and biggish bookshelf speaker, set up performance?
Currently the source, is a mass market,CDP(plays all formats, except SACD).
Thanks.

suggest that if u can fit it in your budget to go for a dedicated DAC instead of a CDP.
The improvement would be far more pronounced if u can feed the digital signals to the DAC from a DVD player.

Benkenobi, which external DAC would u recommend? I have read many people buying used DACs, can we get used ones here? May be online from sites shipping to India?

That is one possibility.
U can try audiogon.com for used DACs.
But buy at ur own risk.

However, there are a couple of sites where they sell DIY DAC, pretty damn good ones too(going by the peer responses).
One that i can point out is by Peter Daniel.
The person from whom i bought my amplifier PCBs.
I can vouch that his amp PCBs are top notch. He has a DAC kit which statrsd from a humble 100$ and goes upto 230$ or so.
The difference in pricing is due to quality of components used.
here is his site...
audiosector.com

Links to the DAC info and pics are posted below..

You may need to register to diyaudio.com to view some of the pics..

Is this Peter Daniel DAC ready to use or do I have to buy the components and build it myself? Is it available here in India?

Thanks

The DAC kit from Peter Daniel can be ordered in many configs.
u can order only the PCB and buy the components over here.
Else you can buy the kit , which will have all the components and the PCB and will only need soldering to finish it.
along with it you may need to buy the transformer for the power supply.
Why don't you shoot off a mail to Peter if you are interested in his DAC.
He is very helpful and replies to u promptly.
Cheers,
Benkenobi
