indeed sad!

I was never an opera fan but I did notice that he was loved the world over.

What was the cause?

He was indeed a great [one of the best] performer & artist.
May his soul rest in peace & his voice enrich the heavens.

This planet has surely lost a great artist.

Somehow no one sang it better IMHO...that aria was written for him....

I really loved him a lot. His voice was fantastic. Still have a lot of his CDs and always play his music. Great to check out the vocals in any system. May his soul rest in peace.

He was suffering from Pancreatic Cancer.

I have his repartees with the other great tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras on video. Will watch his concert again in remembrance.

He was a charming man and will live on in my home.

BTW Prithvi, what system do you play Pavarotti on? His songs have a nasty habit of making my tweeters resonate crazily.

Every song comes to an end - so does every symphony. But if it was great music it lives in your heart for ever. And that's what is important.

I don't think that Luciano Pavarotti will ever die.

Opera was never my Cuppa, but this Dude Rocked.

He sang a memorable track with Santana in "Shamam"..Nova I think it was called.

well said by Dr on the lines of the Body has died but the man will be forever rememberd for taking Opera far beyond the Elite listeners. maybe Ill just buy one of his pieces as my contribution to his memory

See if you can listen to a Cd of The Three Great enor Concert series which feature Pavrotti along with Placido Domingo & Jose Carrerras-amazing stuff.

Although most of my listening is Western Classical, I do not have any Opera CD's in my 'small collection'
I was never able to warm up to this genre of music. None the less, LP was a 'great' artist.
BTW his reference set up [audio] was Martin Logan Statement with full Krell Amplification !!!
