Hey guys,

i want to build a beamer myself. Does anyone know, where i can get guidance and information about this topic? I am sick of that little, flickerung television picture.

I also need a new surround-set, maybe from Canton or JBL - which one would you prefer? I DO NOT want to spend more than 5000 $ for the speakers.

you want what?
Build a beamer by yourself? You are an engineer?
I don't think there are any "build it yourself"-sets

So, what's your price limit for this beamer, maybe you can get a complete one for that price.

What amp do you want to use for your surround set?

$ 3000 for a surround set is good.

For $3500 you get a complete beamer!
Just don't start building such a thing thats nonsense! Get a good one and thats it!

Buy a good one, don't spend your time "building" a thing that won't be good.

dagon, forget jbl speakers.
if you really want canton you should use 4* rc-a, cm 502 center and as 2 sc subwoofer.
thats a good combination including a good stereo reproduction and massive bass power.

costs about $ 10000 or more.
dont think anything cheaper is worth the money.
i think you are a guy who wants high end so dont buy low end cinema.

Hello sledgehammer,

I think there are many good surround sets worth less than $ 10000.

So I think we'll find something for him.
At first, Dagon, take a look at the thread "marantz and canton" here you'll find a small canton set, maybe a bit "too cheap" for you but I think something where you could start auditioning.

dagon dont heard to these guys, they just want to tell you that this cheap things are good.
keep an eye on really good things:
accuphase or krell amps. wadia, accuphase or burmester dvd or cd player. use kimber, fadle art or siltech cables. speakers should be by linn, wilson audio, dynaudio or (if you want it) canton.

but please dont buy shit, listen to it before buying.

Hello slegehammer, you are right!
Noone should buy anything before having listened to it.
But I think we can allow dagon to listen to speakers sets cheaper than $10000?
If the ones above are that good he will be able to hear that difference and will buy one of these.
