Hey Audiophiles, I guess this thread should help a lot of newbies in getting a second. You could share your prices for all the entry level to mid level AV receivers along with your experiences of the driving unit + the drivers. Here are few that you might look at. Dont know if they are genuine. MARANTZ SR-4500 Home Cinema Receiver - 23350/- http://search.ebay.in//search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=marantz DENON AVR 1905 - 7.1 AV Receiver - 25350/- http://search.ebay.in/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=denon Sonodyne AVR300 - 18000/- Does anyone know the best price for Denon 3805 ? |

Guys, my friend has got a setup of Denon 3805 with the Diamond 9.1 and bronze B2 all mixed up with velodyne sub. He says its the best he had ever experienced... But 3805 is damn pricey. |

Im setting up my HT too.. But havent bought anything yet. Been going through the forum again and again & found lot of insights about things. My take is 75/25 Music:Movies. So thinking of a very good stereo as well as Movies amp. I have ruled out Denon, Yahama, Sonodyne and thinking of either Marantz or HK for sure. I would like to listen the music in a very tight bass. What do you think.. Marantz or HK. Reg. speakers. I really dont know if Diamonds would gel with Marantz/HK. Thinking of 9.1 for fronts and mission m71i for my rears ( I think I could interchange the set up too later based on the fidelity). Center I would be going with M 7C2. Not decided yet.. just fig. out combinations. There are really very experienced ppl around here.. Im sure they would help me out in setting up my HT. Do you have any suggestion Edges, you do seem to be a very exp. person. I had been always with Sony this far.. really want to try out these stuffs. My room is 12X14 ft and ceramic tiles flooring with one glass window. Presently Sony serves the purpose.. but I hate it.. these days.. Suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Hi there, I would recommend the Marantz over HK. To me the Marantz is by far superior to HK when it comes to 2 channel. On the speaker front both Mission and Wharfedale are fine. The former being easy to drive. regards |

Hey SNV.. many thanks for your help here. But does a sub is really required in case I go for a setup below - AVR - Marantz 4500 Front - Mission m71i (Bookshelves) Centre - Mission m7c2 or m7c1 (which on is better) Rears - Suggest something simple and good (Diamond is 9.1 is ok here or Monitor Audio B2 or some Tannoy Mercury bookshelf) Also as mentioned about.. does a sub is required for this. If so what would be the best matching sub at the entry level. Suggestions appreciated |

Here are my findings .. may not be precise though - Marantz 4500 - ~25k Mission m71i - ~9k Mission m7c2 - ~9k I have another ~12K for my rears/cables all included. And sub I would add it later. |

Hi, In a home theatre set up, a sub is mandatory. One cant do without it. Mission speakers are good, no doubt. My recommendation would be, use the m72 in the fronts, m7c2 as your center and either m71 or m70 as rears. Although im not sure if these are still available. I suggest you stick to the same brand of speakers for tonal matching. If you like the Tannoy, then Mercury f1 or f2 as your fronts, fc for center and fr for rears. The Marantz is one the finest, shortly the sr 4600 would be available. On the subs try Def Tech. Cheers. |

hey hifi-gi,neono....... was on two days leave due to dussara and navaratri.......took quite a long break! i have compared the marantz 4400 and denon 1705/1905 side by side with the speakers i purchased........found marantz to be far more superior to denon in both musci and HT setup with the same movies and music on both the receivers........even abhi and ben were along during the comparison and they too had the same opinion........i donot know much bout HK as never got a chance to put it along with my speakers........but the entry level HK available here is 130 priced 26k officially........its an outdated model thats y low pricing.....they still havnt got the new 135 here but they have the 235 at 32-34k not sure on the pricing.......cant say much on the speakers u mentioned as i havnt heard to them but as told by others the diamonds go really well with marantz receivers...... edges |

hey neono.... forgot to mention that the marantz is a bit laid back when it comes to bass compared to the denon........denons are really good on the bass but felt the sorrounds are much more clear on the marantz than denon(1705/1905)...... edges |

Hey, SNV, I been following this thread on receivers and would like to know where you're put up. I'm still on my search for a good AV system with something that sounds good on music too. Maybe I'd give the 5600s a listen in case you're from Bangalore. Also what else do you deal with. I also want a good DVD/CD player and speakers. Do let me know. |

Hi SNV, How would rate NAD T743 compared to Marantz SR 4500? And how much would these cost from you? How do Mission speakers fare in HTS? And how much would the set cost? Regards Sanjay |

Dear Sanjay, I guess this would be close. Honestly i havent done a A/B comparison of the two. But im sure it would be a very close call. Both these brands are phenomenol. They outperform all the other brands: YAMAHA, DENON, HK, ONKYO when it comes to two channel. Infact when i get the opportunity, i shall try out it. If not the sr 4500 i think the sr 5600 should be better than the t743. IMO, Mission is one the finest brands available. Im sure they would work fairly well in a HTS. Regards Jay |

Hi frenz... I came across this great site and I think my search for a great music system will end soon, I am planning to go for a home theatre system, I have zeroed-in on a couple of brands available in India as well as few which are available in US. My budget is around 15k to 20K. Please suggest me some models within this range, also if there is any multibrand dealer in Pune plz give me contact details, Please get in touch with me on ur_vinodn@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance Vinod |
