This CD player has an analogue variable output , which can be varied with remote. Has any body tried playing it directly through a power amp i.e without a preamp, if so with what results. How does this player stand against the new generation players like NAD 542 and cambridge Audio 640C or for that matter against its own successor 7300 |

The CD 6000 ose is much better direct into a power amp, try going for the 6000 ose le instead. Not sure if this model is still available though. rgds prithvi |

I own both Marantz 6000 OSE and Nad C542. The difference between both players: 1. Marantz has bigger soundstage 2. Marantz has a little grainy top end whereas Nad has clean highs. 3. Marantz is congested on dense parts of music whereas Nad has better resolution. 4. Nad has tighter low end. 5. Nad is HDCD equipped 6. Marantz has a better transport whereas Nad has a tracking problem (especially with indian pressed discs). 7. Nad doesn't show track time left. 8. Marantz is heavier in weight and better built. 9. The variable output of Marantz doesn't mute totally. You will get some gain which is too high for night listening. 10.The default setting of variable output is maximum. So once you switch off your cdp the variable output will go back to max. So, playing it direct through a power amp is risky. [Beitrag von myriad am 31. Mrz 2005, 12:31 bearbeitet] |

I think the cd6000 is available only in the second hand market now. the cd73 apparently, from what i hear, is a fall in quality in terms of the output stage... |
