Interesting categorization of audio gear

Describing sound through words is the same as trying to describe colour, or taste. It's not feasible. That said,

My personal point of view is that since listening to recorded music is anyway simulation of a real event (and it is impossible to be at every such event) you can basically go two ways:

1. Try to recreate the original event

2. Colour the reproduction so it appeals to your personal taste

Since 1) is impossible within reasonable budgets, the 'Sonic Circle' only shows different ways of achieving the second - the types of colours.

What they classify as 'Precise' will never be so. Not even the best studio monitors can. The reason goes back to the recording of music itself, but we won't get into that. So we should call them 'Low-distortion'. Any colour is essentially distortion, so the rest will qualify as high distortion.
