If I am not mistaken it is what we call "Sankranti" here in Maharashtra and "Pongal" in the south - it is a day of giving thanks.

Here in Mumbai I wish we did not have to celebrate the ending of the cold winter

If anything I wish the mercury would stay low all year round. But I certainly see how it is a good thing up north.

That said, Happy Lohri/Pongal/Sankranti/Bhuhali Bihu to all.
