Hi Everyone, Am pretty new into this car hifi thing, so I thought why not make a start and go for an all ALPINE system for my car (Honda City 2001). OK, I have purchased the following Alpine products : CD Head Unit CDA-7998 Amplifier MRV-F540 (5/4/3 channel Power Amp) And I intend on purchasing the following Alpine products within a month : Amplifier: 2 x MRD-M500 (V12 AccuClass-D Mono Amp) SUBS : 2 x SWR-1521D (15" 2 Ohms...) or 2 x SWR-1541D (15" 4 Ohms...) Speakers Front : SPX-177A (6-1/2" component 2 way speakers) Speakers Rear : SPX-F17T (Flagship 3-way Component Speakers) Ok, now for the questions, the MRV-F540 amp which I have already bought, can it drive the pair of 3 way and a pair of 2 way speakers (namely the speakers mentioned above?) *If it wont drive them, plz recommend me which other amp to get instead, to drive the speakers* Next thing I want to know is what does it mean when u read about an AMP being 5/4/3 or 4/3/2? I have noticed that people use two separate amps to drive the pair of front and rear speakers, but here I have just bought one amp, to drive both can this be just as good, as having 2 amps? Also the alpine head unit CDA-7998 talks about time correction and all for each front and read speakers, but when I would be connecting front and rear speakers to just one amp, would I still be able to use the time correction for each of the 4 speakers individually?! how on earth would i connect a 3 way speaker and a 2 way speaker to just one amp!?! cuz thats 4+6=10 speakers in all and just one amp! am I going wrong somewhere?! Moving on, I would be connecting my two subs to each of the mono amps listed above. What I dont get is, on the alpine website (USA) if u go to "Amplifiers" and read under "V-12 Series"...selecting MRD-M500 it says... "...one of these awesome amplifiers, simply link them together with the RUX-4280 Remote Amplifier Control Center (RACC) to control all the tuning functions right at the dash" Now I have searched the entire website, and I cant seem to find RUX-4280?!?! I want to know more about it and how much it costs, but I just cant seem to find about it on its website... Plzz help! Lastly the Car batter That I am using is 12V DV, most of the products I read about, talk of 14.4V DC, but it says it can work with 12 V dc too... how do I get the extra 2.4V needed... I heard someone talk about a capacitor/relay, plz explain what they are, and which is a good one to use/buy. I am thinking of using Monster cables to hook all this system up, any recommendations? Also what gauge wire should I be using for the Subs and other speakers?! Any recommendations / brand?! Thanks, you can now finish that coke of urs, and thank u for ur patience for reading all this.... |

Hey razakhan! At first, I don't know alpine, my car has a bose sound system (not very good, but good).
That's not 3*2+2*2 = 4+6 = 10 speakers, but 2+2 = 4 speakers, because you count the speakers, not their "ways". So you just have to find a 4 speaker amp.
I don't have any monster cables but I've heard that they are quite good. I hope, all your other question are answered by somebody else. Frank |

Ok, first of all i have been extremely impressed by alpine. My friend had a $2500 Alpine system installed in his old beat up mercedies that was about to fall apart. He was paying more insurance on the stereo than the car! In either case, it was the sweetest sounding system I had ever heard, in a car or at a home! The bass tight, the highs sparkled and the midtones crystal clear. My views on car audio, which at the time were exceedingly low based on the absolute crap that kids my age seem to enjoy, overly bottom heavy and distorted with flutter (where the signal cannot keep up with the throw) had changed. But even at high volumes, this system perfomed exceedingly well! A true relief from Boss and Sony. Now, cable, Monster is not that spectacular, and it's reputation is completely driven by the kind of kids i discribed above. The kind of kids who do not have any money and think that 50 cents a foot is expensive. If you want a good cable, without breaking the bank, I would suggest going with the Tara Labs stuff. It is more than Monster Cable, which in my opinion is the Dell of cables "I hear it's good, so it must be!". You may need to shop at a hifi and home theatre store for this, rather than your car audio store. But if you're going with quality, go all the way. Don't bother with the likes of Monster. As far as gauge goes, use Monster Cable's suggestions. Don't go under 18 gauge but stay over 8. If you use twisted or braided cable, use it for your mains. [Beitrag von anno_k am 21.
