Hi everyone, just joined the forum.
Well, I am gonna buy a friends Pioneer DVD DV366 player and Yamaha RX540 HT Receiver. I just want to have your opinion on the DV 366 DVD player. How is the sound quality of the Analogue out and Digital Out? They say it was an amazing player for it's price (it has been replace now eith other models). The second option is to use my PC as preamp. I would plug a M-Audio Revo card and avoid the Pioneer player. Ofcourse I am gonna play the files from the hdd to avoid transporation problems.

I want to use the player, largely for music.

Thanks

Devang

both the DVD player and the yamaha are well regarded components and should be fine in a budget to midend system..
Happy listening.

Benknobi, thanks very much for an assuring reply
I am using Lithos NOA1 and the powered woofer

I am not going the PC M-Audio way. But can someone tell me, would changing CD Player to a higher quality one (budget around 10-12K), make too much of a difference? Would it reveal more music?

Thanks

Which cd player should I opt for? I am thinking of something around 10-12K. Is NAD CDP the ultimate in entry level HI-Fi range?
Presently with my setup, I guess I have a little problem with my mid range. The subtle instruments or voices played in the background can be heard but have to be heard with a concious effort. Rest all is very lucid. Soundstage and Imaging is good but would be more better if it was more spaced out.

Thanks

Hi Observer,

How's the Lithos sound? I never knew that Lithos supplies powered subwoofers.

NAD is good.Suggest you also check out Denon.I think they have a player priced at 14K.

Another way to improve/get more out of your Cd player is to invest in a pair of good interconnects.

Krish, thanks for the replies.
I already have a good interconnect, I think so. I am using a Monster Cable.
I do not know how am I going to test a CDP now. I have been already been using the amp and speakers, so I won't have the same reference setup elsewhere. Any suggestions to overcome this?

Neutral, the Lithos speakers are very good. They have the clarity and other aspects aspects are in place. I found them not to be mid-fi but kind of entry level Hi-Fi.
Neutral, I had read that you too had a amazing experince when moving from a entry level cdp to a higher quality design. What did u settle for? Can u narrate your experince?

Thanks

I believe if you use digital coaxial to connect the DVD to the AVR, you should be able to work around issues with the jitter and DACs on the DVD. You will need a real bad DVD to mess things up when using ditial interface.

I am told that digital coaxial should be better than optical interconnects. My 2 cents.
