I personally feel I'm not ARROGANT or ADAMANT. It's good that you feel we are here to share knowledge.
BTW you have any shopping experiences in Chennai, if you have visited please let us know how did you feel about demo's?? were there any stuff ready for demo. As i have heard few hinted to me that they have places where they stock the stuff and give demo's at frightfully loud volumes.

P.S. they are business men - money lovers and not music lovers.

every one's time is precious and I have no plans to evaluate you , i don't evalute but educate.

boy is this a 'hot' topic or wot? to be honest i think both sides have a point.

verify before posting cos someone out there might just end up taking your advice seriously. the least you can do is give correct advice or state upfront its an opinion you're offering.

and considering this a public forum well chill trojan. point out what you think is lacking and then leave it. readers are not dumb. they'll evaluate both sides and see who's making more sense.

its summer go have a guys!

as for the original post, well if you're still around in all this melee, here's my recommendation. in that budget you'd do good to check out wharfedale 9.1 (approx 12 k bombay, 15 k bangalore) and pulz pre-power (hearsay recommendation from lots of guys) which is 15 k. stands you can add later on....

Dear Abhi,Benks and Horse man,

No place to prove your points as all are right in one angle as stevie has mentioned, guys life's too short and very little time for exchange of opinions.Lets not take this any further. Hi Abhi any news on the products update and stevie how do you compare 9.1's to Sonodyne.

Chillax..... maadi

that's right,
like i said check out the wharfedale diamond series. 9.1 is ecellent. worth the xtra over the 8.1. see if u can stretch ur budget just a bit and maybe u can squeeze in a rotel or a Nad 320Bee amp.

the price difference is about 3k.
8.1=12k
9.1=15k(or thereabouts)dewfinitely not more.
besides they are cheaper in Hyderabad and in Mumbai.
sounnvisionhifi.com in hyderabad offeref to sell the 8.1 for around 9.25-9.5k(includes door delivery).
coming to the technical details, both have the same config of drivers although the wharfedale chaps say that the weaving(kevlar weaving) of the drivers is different.
the 8.1 has freq response of -55-20k while 9.1 has 50-24k.
coming to the sonic quality. there are actually a lot of similarities between the two. but the 9.1 is clearly better. has a more wider soundstage. the midrange is also slightly better. heard the 9.1 for only 2 hours so can't really judge. but to tellmy first views they are worth their price.
Benks

BTW check out the wharfedale site. they have changed it...for the better.

hi subboss,

haven't heard sonodyne so far. that's one of the brands i still have to check out. i keep doing my search in fits and starts. logged on here after quite a while.

trojan, the 9.1s sound better than the 8.1s. a friend picked up the 8.1s. heard it last week. the 9.1s have more bass i think and more finesse. look better too! little dinky and small but in a cute way. and as benks mentioned the kevlar is supposedly improved.
