IS IT TRUE THAT 1 WATT = 2.83 volt

Quadra stereo was a kind of surround speaker setup, i think in the mid 70s, which used 4 speakers fto give a wider soundstange. never took off well enough ! although many oldtimers rave about it !

Regarding 1W=2.83 Volts..that is not comparable as they relate to voltage & Power. but a speaker of 8Ohms will prdice the same output with 2.83 Volts or 1W . comes from simple mathematics of

W=VxV/R hence if W= 1 and R=8 find V

I think your question comes from the senitivity of a speaker which is defined as

Output of a speaker at 1 m from the drive where input power is 1W OR at 2.83 V depending on the speaker manufacturer ..

quadra stereo was also known as quadraphonic. I have a few quadraphinic records from way back then.
