luxman left channel static

Hope someone can shed some light on the problem. I have a Luxman L480 int. amp. Protection circuit was tripping and I traced it to 2 transistors,A790 & C2240. replaced those and also 2 100ohm resistors that looked like they had been hot. It fixed the protection circuit from tripping but now I have a intermittent(sp?)static sound from left channel. does not vary with volume or source. it kind of spits the static and the only way it can be stopped is to turn the speakers off. I have probed board looking for loose ground and checked voltages and continuity compared to the right channel... no luck at this point. I do appreciate any help someone can give. Joe S
