Anybody out here has any experience with Nuforce or channel islands amps ? http://www.nuforce.com/ http://www.ciaudio.com/ These are supposed to be giant killers if we are to believe the user-reviews out there. There are people on audio circle who are using these with hi-end speakers like B&W nautilus series, ML, Thiels, Vmps rm40 etc… These are not exactly budget amps. The mono blocks for pair start at 1600$. The most expensive nuforce monoblocks ref-9’s retail at around 2500$ a pair. But people are comparing them to multi thousand dollar amps costing five times more. What’s the trip with these analogue switching amps ? I wonder ??? Any thoughts ? |

AVI sells them in India. They have it in stock. They also do JR & Theta. One could drop by & do an A / B & find out how good or how bad [ ] they actually may be ! Just a suggestion; |

From what I have read about these amps on forums, I have never come across such difference in opinions. There is no camp like you have for vinyl/digital, horn/non-horn etc..I have never even come across one post saying these amps are bad. What I read is only praise although some audiophiles prefer their regular ss/tube setups. But even those people give due credit for these amps. Even stereophile and six moons who are synonymous with purist analogue sounding setups are all praise for them. I have never heard them so basically fishing for info. |

I have heard a Benchmark-Flying mole setup running a Totem model 1 once and thought that was good. but then some other folks thought they were too digital/thin etc etc but since opinions are as common and prolific as you-know-what, if you search the following forums you might find something on that and what people think on either side www.audioasylum.com www.echoloft.com maybe this comparison review of digital amps is useful to decide among digital amps as well..nuforce did not come up too well here as it is a bit finicky http://www.gr-research.com/amps/nuforce.htm I personally am all for degitals/switched modes ever since i started using the t-Amp but have had enough discussions in echoloft with people who think otherwise. .. but again, the moment they get into the post USD2000 category like the nuforce (Is it not around USD2500 ? ), i definitely would prefer tried and tested traditional amps even if at a higher cost !!. But Digital amps for Cars is a great idea as they give efficeincies upto 90% and more power mer cubic Meter than any other amp. [Beitrag von Arj am 30. Mai 2006, 10:02 bearbeitet] |

Thanks Arj for the links. Have gone through most of the audiocircle links. I am actually curious about these analogue switching amps like you are and would like to see the other side opinions as well. That is why I am fishing for info. As you said, 2500 dollars is a lot of money and you have too many options at that price point. I am not at all sold into this digital amp thing. In fact I am not convinced at all. I have heard Linn monoblocks driving a pair of Proac response 38 and liked it. But pricing of these like the JR digital monoblocks are stratospheric. I am just researching. |

hi , I have heard the nuforce integrated and the 8.5 monos. i dont care much for the integrated but the 8.5 monos are something. I have heard them drive maggies, martin logans and B&W. It sounded awefull with the B&W, so-so with the Martin logans but fantastic with the maggies. They also drive the maggies extremely well. Detailed, transparent yet musical. I love the combo !
