A pic of my stereo setup. Only thing missing now is a proper hifi stand, some acoustics and oh es, a Transport!

Could you also mention the equipment please?

I saw quite a few mentions about the placements of speakers where people recommended that they be placed about two feet away from the wall. Is that strictly needed?

Its a DIY 3 way active speaker system along with a DIY DAC and Harman Kardon DVD30 for transport.

THe speaker positioning matters a lot. Obviously i have not been able to work on this as the system is in Bangalore and I am in the US.

Speaker positionng depends on many different factors and guidelines should always be just that, guidelines. Experiment to see what suits best for you.

Designed & Engineered in the US...Custom manufactured to Saachis specs in Bengaluru?

No no..i designed it while I was in INDIA (started in June 2005)...it is an Indian design with US components(drivers at least)

Just that the woofer drivers were 'accidentally' kicked in by a relative's kid and had not been replaced for a year.

The DAC's assembly was not complete and Arasu finished it up for me.

Now, my dad's smitten by this setup and insists on moving this system into the main audio room and chucking the Wharfedale diamond 8.4/ Yamaha receiver combo out.

I'll see your "Ouch" and raise you and "AAAARRRGHH!". I've found ways to make my speakers nearly insect-proof but how to make it brat-proof eludes me.

i am just glad it wasn't the Scan Speak Mids that were broken. That would have hurt me about 16k rupees as against 2.5k Rs for the woofers.
