Hello ! What all have you heard ? What have you 'liked' so far ? Do you a preference ? Kind of 'sound' ? Looks of Speaker ? WAF i.e. Room Size ? Some details if provided, would help me & some senior members to assist & guide. Where are you based ? City i.e. So auditions could be arranged, either at members house or @ audio stores - shops. All the Best ! |

Try to audition one of these: http://www.sonodyne.com/Studio%20SM-50A.html http://www.sonodyne.com/Studio%20SM-100AK.htm I have heard one of these recently, dont remember which one but I was pretty impressed with the sound one got for the money. A pretty matured sound compared to its entry level pricing. It is from their Studio line active speaker so amplification is in-built. Did not sound dry, boring or forward as associated with many studio gears, instead was pretty smooth, clean and laidback. The one that I heard was about 32k. Hope this helps. |

Dude, considering what your room dimensions and taste in music are, I am going to give you the most non audiophile suggestion. Your 14x14 room will sing at 80Hz and its 2xy2/3/4 etc frequencies(harmonics). Bad for any bookshelf type setup too. Go get yourself a BOSE CineMate Series II Digital Home Theatre Speaker System. All you need to do is add a source, as the set even allows you volume control. Forget what everybody says, this set is really good and the best product BOSE has ever made according to me. Spread the sats 8 o 9 feet apart on the wall and absorb all back wall reflections by treating it with fabric covered 2in thick polyester fiber between the speakers, this will give you a deeper sound stage. The only minor downside is that it is a single source setup, which if you can adjust to, then you are home and dry. Deaf |

Anirvan, within your budget I do not think any other Sonodyne will beat their Active speakers. In fact they are hard to beat in general. I do not have idea about the recent entries but Norge and Lithos are two other brands that comes to my mind when it comes to high cost to performance ratio. |

Abhi, I *think* you mean high performance to cost ratio?? otherwise you'd be sending the fellow off on an out-of-budget chase! [Beitrag von bombaywalla am 14. Aug 2010, 21:17 bearbeitet] |
