Professional Amps for home audio

Hi all,

There are guys who use pro amps in their home and are happy with them. They also cost less on an average...

Anyone tried the pro amp route ? Any good ones around ? The general crib for pro amps is noisy cooling fans which can be easily changed.

It would be an interesting experiment.

Great sounding pro amps are those meant for studio duty and not PA.Good makes are MC2,Chevin Research,Hafler to name a few.The crazily priced Boulder began their career as studio amps.Decent and cheap pro amps in India are made by Pulz.
40k ought to get one a set of 250 watt monoblocks.

Yeah Deaf but Gamut is expensive....

Was reading a few posts on Audio Asylum and quite a few were happy with the so called non-audiophile amps. Some use Pa amps for bass and use a home audio amp for the mids and highs....some just use the power amps with a tube pre etc etc......thats what made me curious.

A friend of mine heard the large pulz but was of the opinion that it was far too unrefined and noisy.....I havent heard it myself yet though....

I think Good pro amps become as costly as audiophile ones !!

I would rather advice the DIY route :-)

Under 100 K seems OK.

They have different models.

I like the ones with the linear power supply [a little more
expensive].
