JVC Disc America made the announcement last September 2005 that they were
halting the manufacturing and distribution of there proprietary Product line
entitled XRCD.

At this time JVC Disc America is announcing that they will no longer
manufacture or distribute XRCDs either made in the USA or abroad in Japan.

Going forward this business will be granted to the company called Elusive
Disc, Inc. Elusive Disc, Inc. will serve as the exclusive distributor of
the XRCD Product Line for North America. This will include both titles made
in the USA and overseas by JVC Japan.

September 26th, 2006 was the last day that JVC Disc America shipped XRCD
orders & product to existing XRCD Customers. Starting November 1st, 2006 you
now will be able to directly purchase all XRCDs from Elusive Disc through
their website: www.elusivedisc.com or one of their affiliated resellers.

New XRCD Titles will also be available soon on the Elusive Disc Website.

Welcome to the new and improved phase of JVC’s Propriety Audiophile Product
line XRCD.

I quote from an email sent by Kevin Berg of JVC. Just FYI. To keep everyone abreast...!

On a re-read, I think the name will remain XRCD, only JVC will discontinue production.

Hi! Shahruk,
I too got the email from Kevin, being the indian distributor.

JVC DISC America used to manufacture some xrcds, not all. Most of them are made by JVC Japan & other companies who have borrowed the technology like FIM.

The xrcds will still be made by JVC JAPAN and other companies who have the technology to manufacturer xrcds.

What JVC DISC America did, will now be done by ELUSIVE DISC. In other words they will continue to sell & distribute the same xrcds and the one from JVC JAPAN etc to the entire world. Just the major distribution has changed. Nothing has changed in the quality of the xrcd. XRCD will remain an XRCD.

I too am awaiting a new list of xrcds from Kevin. Hope they reduce the price to.

They seriously need to do this if they want their product to become popular. It's a good product, no doubt!!

honestly doubt any decrease in prices. the only people who buy these are a section of audiophiles and when your market segment is niche and small the prices/margins are bounfd to be high...

the rest of the music buyers would not care or even notice the difference it has from a 128kbps mp3..so doubt if they will pay 3 times the price for it.

but again since the number of albums available in XRCD, that too for artists/music we really like is lower than even SACD, i am not too optimistic of the format...i guess it will always remain a niche segment.

hope they increase their products in the catalogue !
