Help with Tower speaker

Hi guys,
I recently bought a Sony SS-MF650H tower speaker.
They are 8ohms speakers with max. input power of 180W r.m.s.
In the leaflet along with the speaker, There is a statement which says that the speaker has to be powered by an amp of sufficient power , else the tweeter may burn out.
They have not mentioned what is "sufficient power" anywhere.
I checked up with Sony and got very sketchy info.
Any help appreciated.

Any amp that clips ( distorts, because its pushed to deliver beyond its max output power capability) will produce a stream of Harmonics, which will destroy the speakers ( any speakers )

This is just general precaution, and applies to ALL speakers, including your Sonys.

Depending on the speaker efficiency, and your room size, any amp of 50 Watts to 200 Watts (RMS per channel ) will be fine.

Try out an amp, and if it plays VERY loud ( more loud than you would normally want to hear ) or even loud enough , without distortion, then that Amp has enough power to mate your speakers.

You could then consider the sound quality of the amp ....

Usually these are sold as packages so Sony won't bother to divulge rest of details..The basic thumb rule is have a amp with more power than what your speakers can handle
