Hi Guys,
Can you please share your thoughts/opinions on a good home theater projector (A friend of mine is planning to purchase one in US and bring it down to India) ; budget is about 50-60K INR.

One of the brands he has looked at is the OptomaUSA DV10 which costs about $925.00 and has an integrated DVD player.

The projector is also bundled with Dolcen Kreiling DK-SW50 50-watt powered subwoofer and Panoview GrayWolf high-contrast pull-down screen. Is the projector worth the price. Portability is another reason why he is considering this model.

Also which kind of projector (LCD or DLP) is more suitable to be used as a home theater projector?

the DV 10 was on sale for 450$ on black friday.
ur best chance is to look for it on the chirstmas sale.

Savyasaachi,

Will ask my friend to look out for any offer during Christmas. From web, I found that DLP Projector with front projection is sufficient for a home theater setup. I also believe these all-in-one models are a compromise on one feature or the other. So I suggested him to buy a good Projector and then get a dvd player, screen etc seperately and he is open for that. Are you aware of any other DLP models below 1000$ with better features, image quality, performance etc? What do you think is a decent price for DV10? Prices such as 450$ and 925$ for the same equipment look poles apart

Check out the ones from Sanyo, Panasonic(for LCD ones)..Optoma and Benq for the DLP stuff.

The DV 10 was on sale for just one day and that too for 7 hours and was a sweet deal regardless of the compromises in quality.

But, seperates is still the better way to go if u want compatibility and upgradability.
