Hi Guys,

This morning, I went over to the british Council Library, and read the Hi Fi News & Record Review, 50th Anniversay issue. (

Various know-it-alls - a panel of Ken Kessler, John Borwick, John Crabbe, Geoffrey Horn and Keith Howard pick the 50 most influential audio pioneers of all time.

Well.... Linn's Ivor Tiefenbrun comes in last at 50th Place.

Yup, Amar Bose of Bose is ranked 48. AHEAD of Ivor Tiefenbrun of Linn... and that too by a panel of Audiophiles

I know how U feel about this, Prithvi, My heart bleeds too....

Ed Villchur of Acoustic Research is rated Number 1.

IMHO As a business Man and a technocrat and a Entrepreneur he definitely stands Waaay ahead of any other in the audio business.

To me Linn seems on its way down in the past few years...appears more confused over what they want..forget about what the consumers want..

to me the Linn Classik is the most interesting in the entire range

I agree with you.

At its peak, Linn positioned itself as the Analogue God.... and built up several myths..

With CDs comming in as Main stay, it has since, practically lost a "Mission Statement" and its perch.

As a Business man, Showman, a technocrat and a Entrepreneur I think that Amar Bose deserves the No 1 Position.

Practically all the other 49 audio greats have come and run or sold out, or have had to re-invent themselves. Bose has continued his original focus, and grown to the Largest Audio company ever....

He's nowhere in the list..or the panel of Ken Kessler, John Borwick, John Crabbe, Geoffrey Horn and Keith Howard who rated felt it's a blunder if a genius is rated with lesser mortals of audio world..

but surprisingly many folks have still not been able to come to thnk on the lines that source is only as good as the Amp/Speaker in terms of CDs !

linn had coined the phrase "Source First". it was very valid for turntables. but with CDs, even entry-fi/ mid fi itself provides such a value in the source that you need to have much better speakers/amp to get benefit from a higher source !
