Information needed of Pioneer DV-600AV-S DVD Player

I dont know if you get this model in India or not...but audio planet can get you Pioneer..check out with them.

I have been chasing this very model for a month since I first heard of it. It's the perfect universal player with everything you could ask for. I know the older 696-AV is sold by some but it pales in comparison to the 600-AV. So don't settle for that if you find it.

Please do let us know if you find it. I for one would be a confirmed buyer.

P.S. This Audio Planet is in Bangalore? Any Pioneer leads for Mumbai?

Cambridge Audio still sells its old model - the DVD89 - at around 12k. It is a distant second to the Pioneer 600-AV. While it shares most of its features, it lacks: USB input, built-in DTS-decoder (big plus for analog setup like mine), Mpeg-4 AAC support. Musically the DVD89 has beaten out most Pioneers for CD playback thanks to its DACs. But here is the worrisome part. The DVD89 is from an era when CA didn't quite have their act together in terms of Quality Control - hence I've heard too many reports of them breaking down. And a lot of people are happy with theirs too. Luck of the draw I guess.

Just found out from Audio planet about a Pioneer DV400 which is going for about 5-6k in the gray market.

However, from the web, tt seems that there are two different models:

1.DV-400V-S(pioneer.com.sg)
2. DV-400V-K (amazon.com)

I don't know how different they are from each other, but it seems the Amazon one has a lot of happy customers. Will ask Palani more about the one he was talking about.

The DV-400 is a stripped down DV-600 - it lacks the crucial SACD, DVD-A support which makes the DV-600 worthwhile. Still has the neat front-USB. Plus it has a 96/24 DAC, not the 192/24 found in the DV-600. Not bad for half the price I guess. The -S / -K suffix just indicates colour. S=Silver, K=Black.

I will be traveling to Delhi for the next week. Any particular places where I should be looking for this DVD player(DV600)? I have already asked some folks to find out the pricing in Bangalore.
