Hey Arj,

Great Post, looks promising a lot of tubes and software reviews though haven’t read much yet, just glanced through.

Regards,

Satyam.

Arj looks fantastic at first glance. There seems to be no way of knowing if subscription is possible.

Made in India!

On page 18 the author Jeff Dorgay who is also the Ed. says he uses the Rethms!
Proud of Jacob George the manufacturer who makes these in Kerala.

Read a lot of things about it (Good ones) recently. wish cadence also does some marketing..they seem to be getting out of the media scene..

Never heard the Rethms. Do they have any dealers in Mumbai? They look like real out-of-the-box stuff. I wish they were there at the Times show. But Cadence will be a consolation.

BTW, I wish I could audition the Bryston-TMC combo. I hear that top studios use them for their exceptional neutrality and quality.

Its a very dead sounding setup have heard it at adelphi a few months back, nothing to write home about but this is just my opinion.

That means it is not coloured . was it at AFA on the 4th floor, Adelphi ?
They sound good with a tube Pre or a tube CDP. actually it should sound good on vinyl.. was that how you heard it ?

No Arj,

It was on the ground floor, and yes maybe neutral but lacked immediacy, attack, detail and warmth in short VERY STRILE.

No Arj,

They only had PMC, Bryston and Oracle CD Player.

I have a pic of that setup but sadly I cant post it here I'll mail it to you later.

On a side note the kind of gear we got to audition in Tiepei and HK was by a long shot better than what singapore had to offer.

Well I dont know somehow the best deals are yet to be had in Singapore, I will try and post a bunch of pics from the HiFi show in HK and Tiepei.

The effort that goes into setting up a system in Tiepei is miles ahead of HK and as for singapore it looked like very slack period for hifi for some reason.

Satyam

Hi Satyam,

Could you please tell me where you heard the Bryston TMC combo? I am based in Bombay. Well studio monitors are designed to be flat. It's kind of a trade-off. Do you remember Morpheus offering Nero the red pill in the Matrix? A studio setup will tell you the truth and the whole truth But there's just no guarantee that you will like it Morpheus was aware of this when he offered Nero a choice of the truth or living in ignorant bliss.

I use entry-level studio equipment myself. Sounds great to me. No boom or tizz. So there's decent chances that I would like the Bryston combo. But, I would certainly hesitate to recommend it to the general public. Accuracy and 'excitement' are two entirely different things.

Hi Neutral,

I heard the setup in singapore I don't know of anyone having it over here and as for the sound well I'll put it simply I'm no fan of neutrality I love color to my sound.

Regards,

Satyam.
