After about more than 1Yr i think my search for speakers to mate with my marantz amp has come to an end.
Last sunday me and my friend decided to audition some speaker brands available in chennai.Like,
1]polk monitor 50
2]polk Rti4
3]Mordaunt short 902i
4]Wharfedale 9.1 and the 8 series
5]kef
6]Klipsch bookshelves 7]Elac... etc.
We visited Audiopeople,Profx,Multiplex etc
Out of these shops i think ,Audiopeople had the most extensive range and a more professional approach to their customers.
Multiplex was the worst. The guy there says the amp influences the sound 70%, speaker the remaining.
Instead of running the amp at tone defeat mode,he raised the treble all the way upto level 8.we heard some unnatural bass when listening to the 8.3.And when i turned around,a elac sub is On behind the sofa.

Profx guy was Good.

The Polks sounded very bright, especially the monitors[My ears were beginning to ache].The Rti series speakers were oK but sounded Ordinary[When compared to another speaker we listened previously].The kef's were good. The iQ5 .very nice bass coming from such small enclosures. The highs were good, soothing to ears. All of these speakers through Denon electronics.

In Multiplex we listened to Diamond 8.1,8.3,Elac towers,
The wharfedales were good. The Elacs were excellent, but they costs twice the wharfedales.but the over enthusiastic store guy spoiled the sound of the elacs, with his EQ adjustments. But we didnt bother much,as we had already made our choice.

Audiopeople at T-Nagar,had brands like, deftech,Klipsch,MS,MonitorAudio etc
We listened to the Klipsch RB-?..,Mordaunt short bookshelf,he didnt have the new 902i.Monitor audio bronze B2.
Out of all these, the Bronze B2 sounded real special to us.The bass was good, cosidering the huge demoroom they had.
Trumpets sounded real, clean midrange,no hind of brightness.
To our relatively new ears, they sounded perfect.we sitting at 2 meters away from the speakers,my friend asked to raise the volume slightly, and i felt some gush of air hitting my shoulder, and i was looking for some A/C or fan behind me.I soon realised that was from the port of the small B2.But there was no port noise at all .The klipsh wasnt vey good,MS was good ,but didnt sound special as the B2's.Me and my friend felt the same way. We,listend to the smaller B1's and the larger B4,They sounded excellent. The B1's that we listened had passed about 10Hrs of breakin,But the B2's were just out of box. I already got my pair for 16,200Rs.After the 10% reduction. My friend is going to get it next month, after he gets his amp from singapore.

All the way i had the Polks in mind.until i listened to them. .Again i thank the people in Hifi-forum .for shaping my tastes, for the past 2 Yrs.Im am happy now.But i have to wait for another 2 weeks befor i connect my speakers to my own amp, when i go home.until that time i will try to breakin with someone else's system.

The only regret that i have is, i couldnt listen to the 9.1's.It wasnt available in any shope in chennai.[proMusicals being closed on sundays].Also the 902is.
Now i am thinking of completing the setup with other speakers in the series.[the B4's ].
Also im looking for some decent pair of stands.Any suggestions here ?

MAs are nice. you will hear a lot of criticism about people talking about the Metal speakers.. just ignore it.

I have heard the older silver Bookshelves and thought they sound really good.. traditional british speakers packing a modern punch !

Any clue about the price of the Silver RS6? Those are the MA speakers to buy according to most...best bang for the buck.

CONGRATS buddy Neono...
Good to see an extensive write-up of your research. Even better to see that you could single out the best (to your ears ) so easily. Normally thats where many falter.
How about Cables, Interconnects, Power Cords, Power Conditioners, Audiophile Racks etc etc...

I really dont know how i choose my speakers so fast??.As i dont live in chennai, its quite difficult for me to travel 5Hrs and audition speakers, its 2 days work. moreover ,the choices are quite limited in this price range... .Power conditioners,Yes,as i grow up..

The MA's are great speakers...

I have heard lots of good things about B2s but unfortunately never heard them properly...the guy in bangalore (ARN systems) said he can procure the B2s only if I commit to buying them...no audition!

B4's are good but better suited for rock...in that range AE Evo 3's are better for classical and jazz...

The MA B2s are my fav speakers of that lot and they rock. Pair them with a nice detailed 100watter and they will sing.
Great choice. Now sit back and enjoy ur music.

Do make sure you have some great heavy duty stands for the B2s. They make a world of difference.
