Please please please...dont throw stones at me

for bringing in Sony over here ....
But I was checking the website and bumped into their new HT package, DDW1000. Although sony = 10% THD = Rule them out

,
the interesting thing is it has 2 powered subwoofers which brings me into this wider topic of multi sub systems. Has anyone tried this out? 2 subwoofers for a HT system? And most of the rxrs these days are 5.1,6.1 and 7.1..so I am not sure whether it is feasible (unless the rxrs have another pre sub out)

I was also initially attracted by it man.. but dont know this forum had totally changed my point of view...

The specs looks really good but you need to audition it. I dont know how good it would stand in competition with Marantz/HK/Onkyo/Yahama Avrs with 5.1 package.

Check and let me know. Im also in the verge of finalising a product soon.

Honestly, I wasnt looking at buying it. The main idea of the post was to find out how common is the use of 2 subwoofers. Usually, HTIB's are a consequence of the trends in component systems. They try to position themselves closer to the actual home theater systems. (separates)
Thats what got me into this doubt of how common the two sub systems are?

I wouldnt want to compare a sony with a Yamaha or a denon system. Its like comparing scotch with local whisky!.

As you mentioned, it is good to audition them. You'll never know..it might actually turn out to be good (for a change). But, its 10% THD... in other words it may not turn out to be so good....

Have you observed another issue with the demo by these sony dealers? They just blast the volume soo loud that you just hear a room full of boom!.. clearly catered to "Noisophiles" as someone in this forum commented!
