Heyall, one of my friend is looking to buy a system =40k...i have suggested him to go for stereo, as he enjoyed listenin to stuff on my setup. i got an opportunity to check the NAD's with PSB and Wharfies (bookshelves)..the amp was really good, wish i had got the same but thn i felt the speakers we not tht impressive afterall. coz it was quite evident how the characteristics changed with the speakers. cud u guys suggest me a speaker which would be the best match for the NADs..the NAD's are available for 21k, he wud have some 19k left for the speakers after tht. hows th AE evo-1? Prithvi had lot of good things to say on same. we listen to pop, pop-rock, trance, chillout and some jazz. some smooth bass goosebumps wud be nice, i dont expect a sub-woof like stomp either. some good speakers which'll play stuff like George micheal, duran duran, johhny hates jazz kinda stuff very well...sweet treble and punchy mids...Appreciate th feedback of y'all

also suggest if i shld recommend him to buy speakers from cadence and go for pulz amplifier... other way round. kindly quote the rate for cadence tht wud be helpful.

hi there,

The AE evo 1 is a good speaker. You could also consider these :

MONITOR AUDIO BRONZE 2, MISSION M32, TANNOY FUSION 2.

Demo these bookshelves and make up ur mind on which one you find the best.
Cadence speakers are good too, a little pricy though, i dont think you should partner it with pulz.
In my opinion the speakers would be an overkill for the amp,
basically you wont be making the most of the speakers with this amp.

Jay

Dear Saachi,

The Tannoy mercury has been discontinued a long time ago.
Next step up were the Tannoy Revolution.
Basically the Fusion series is a fusion of mercury and revolution.
They use drivers of revolution and cabinets of mercury, but
are being offered at the price of mercury. So its a value for money product.
The fusions are some fine speakers in their class.

Regards
Jay

Mission i believe is available at vijay sales.

Well, tannoy is one of the finest brands in the world.
The are present in all the three segments : HOME, COMMERICIAL & STUDIO.

Neckie,
If you can audition the Energy Connoisseur 3C bookshelves, it will be a great experience for vocals. At Rs 28,000 they charge a premium but are worth it. I hear them in Chennai at the Audio People. Don't know who sells them in Mumbai.

Hi
I heard the Fusion 3 floorstanders here in Delhi. IMHO the mids were simply outstanding and the highs were impressive. However at higher volumes, the speaker cannot handle lower frequencies. I would refer the speakers for music where there is not much emphasis on bass like Jazz, instrumentals, vocals etc.
They sell for approx Rs 22,000 here in Delhi but retail for around Rs 13,000 in both the US and the UK.

Was just checking the Tannoy site. They've renamed the Fusion series the Mercury F series. So it's Mercury F1, Mercury F2.. and so on. Guess the Mercury was such a good series it refused to die.

Also just called up Prashant. He says he's selling them for 27K.

Glad u finally did neckie. Everyone has different opinions, but if you're satisfied with what you've got, opinions can go hang.
On a serious note tho, I'm sure the opinions helped to shortlist stuff a lot. Enjoy your system!

PS: Go for MA bronze

There is a company in New Zealand by the name of Fusion electronics,
they have recently registered "Fusion" as
their trademark in various markets around the world.
Hence to avoid any legal issues and any sort of further
complications, as a good gesture Tannoy has changed the
series to MERCURY F SERIES: F1, F2 and so on.
The products remain the same.
