Hi! Roshan, Will surely keep you on my mailing list. Would love to open a branch in Mumbai, sadly the overheads will kill me. In hi-end audio you do not sell stuff everyday. a lot of ups and downs. I think we must all thank manek, as he was instrumental in starting this forum, atleast we have a place to chat and let all know that we have great stuff coming for demos. I am here to help anyone from the forum or outside achieve music & hi-end nirvana. Rgds PRithvi |

hey prithvi, thanks for the invite. my first experience with true high end systems was amazing. it changed my whole perspective on high end stuff. still i maintain that they are not VFM but it has made me treat them with respect. wow!those proacs were simply amazing(i could have sworn those were playing with a sub insync)btw nice one with the power conditioner. i would have loved to see the conrad in action with a dedicated preamp. would love to drop by and experience some more of the truely audiophile stuff that u have. it was great to meet nagraj. would like to meet more of the forum guys at ur place, say meet up for a 3 to 4 hour listening session. let me know if and when i can drop by for the brystons. P.S-came home and shifted the diamonds out of the corner and freed them. u were right! the bass was hugely pronounced when they were in the corners, but now i feel the bass is lacking! could it be because my listening room(hall actully) is too big(14x24). but my listening position is around 12 feet from the speakers. however, the mids have actually become more clearer and the soundstage has improved too. |

obi wan...you have just taken your first step into the fine art of speaker placement..... move them around if you can, they will sound different in different parts of the room.....every speakers has its optimal placement and sometimes it takes a long time to get it right ! enjoy the experiments, learn from them...thats half the enjoyment in this hobby ! The other half is sound quality. Manek. |

Speaker Placement is the least expensive, yet, most effective tweak /factor in wringing out the best from your gear. If done well, it can make even a 30K system sound divine, or, a multi dollar system atrocious... |

The woofers of your speakers, I presume, are at the bottom and the tweeter on top. You are getting out of the optimum dispersion area.... |

Every speaker disperses sound to a limit. Sit down on the ground and you will hear more bass and less of the mids and highs. Your sitting height is probably as important as your speaker placement. Sit in/around the sweet spot to hear the best. A simple place to begin would be to sit at a height where the tweeters are at your ear level. This is where a height adjustable comfy chair or just cushions on a sofa help. Manek. |

how does putting a carpet in front of the speakers help. the speakers are on spikes but my floor is a bit uneven. how do i solve this problem. isolation of my cdp means using vibrapods? |

carpets will help absorb the first floor reflections to an extent. If the floor is uneven then adjust the spikes or put a coin under to balance them. You could even start by putting one square inch mdf wood blocks with cork under the cdp legs to see if it makes a difference. i use cork under my cdp and it works well for me as a damper. vibrapods are also an option but try before you buy. manek. |

try lifting your speakers front (thickness of two 1 Re coins) OR put a carpet in front of your speakers. with some speakers it improves Bass and improves the height of the image.. |

Sound waves, on emerging from the drivers, disperse as they move ahead. Your ears hear the direct traveling waves as well as those hitting the floor and getting reflected. These reflections tend to muddle the picture conveyed by the direct traveling ones. A carpet placed in front of the speakers absorbs most of the waves hitting the floor and reduces reflections. |

then to reduce reflections will an open window make a difference for the better as it is an ideal absorber of sound(absorption coefficeint of 1). |

Open window may introduce unwanted (external) sound The way a carpet helps in absorbing floor reflections, cutains, as well as wall hangings help in reducing wall reflections. |

I missed listening to the CJ as I was working till 6.30.By the time I arrived it was gone. Loved the Plinius. As usual, the proacs stunned me with its magic. The switching between class A and a/b was nothing less than dramatic.I was listening to some vocals in Class A and the sound was tight, clean, sweet with the vocalist dead centre and the tabla widely spaced in the background and Prithvi switched to A/B.The sound stage changed-collapsed slightly and the singer sounded less real.As if a bit of mud was added to the sound.Class A is the best....and it makes me a sadder man.....! Thanks Prithvi for the Demo. Buzz me when the Bryston monoblocks arrive..:) |

Hey Benko, it was great having you for a demo. Good you followed my advise and pulled ur spks out from the corners. What you say that the bass is no lacking is actually all the rubbish mid bloated bass (midbass) has now vanished and you are actually hearing the real lows that cn be generated from your spks. This is the real bass dude not the bloated midbass. Try and xperiment more. The mids will open up more. Will call you when I get the fourth reference spk "PROAC D 15 " next week for demo. this will really strip you naked, that too if I run it with the BRYSTON 7B SST & BP25. Rgds Prithvi |
