Hi! Guys, U must read this. Today Murthy sent me this evening a black platform 1" thick which seemed to be made of MDF and something else. It was covered in Black velvet & was sent for evaluation. After all he calls my listening room his test lab, If the test lab rejects it then the products do not go into production for clients. So here's the story:- I have been listening to the LINN CLASSIK from 7am in the morning with the Audio Analogue Puccini Se & the Audience 52se. Was using the LINN as a CDP only. So when I got the platform I just placed it under the LINN and guess what happens I really get up from my comp to check if something is wrong with the overall sound. First of all noticed that suddenly the bass disappeared and now whatever bass ws there was boomy like a JBL bookshelf spks of yesteryears. The music sounded like a radio signal, no body, warmth, no soundstage, no image. So I thought something is really wrong, the product cant be that bad, so put on an audiophile recording that I am familiar with and checked all cables and connections again & guess what same story. Totally confused Took out the black platform and putback the LINN on the glass rack and vola everything become perfect again, something really fishie. Will follow up and do some more experiments with Murthy again tomorrow. Told him and he too could not believe what I had complained. He is the only person that does not get upset when I tell him the truth. He somehow brings out better products after spending tons of money and manhours. Will keep u all posted in part-2. In short all tweaks do not work. I will define a tweak: "A tweak is something that is done to a system to improve its performance with out spending huge sums of money & something that is done only one at a time." |
