banana plugs?

Hi all i have just got a cambridge audio setup made up of a azur 540a amp, azur 540c cd deck and mission m32 speakers.

Do i need banana plugs to connect the speakers to the amp and if not what do they do?

Hi!
Congrats on the great buy of the 540a/540c. This amp/cdp combo is a great one and real value for money.

You do not need banana plugs. You can wire the spk wires directly by unscrewing the binding post a little and then you can insert the wire(do not forget to twist and remover 5mm of the plastic sheathing on the cable).

It is always better to have banana plugs but it is not necessary. It all depends on you. I always use them, as I do not like the cables to get damaged. You can get banana plugs from Rs 175/- each to Rs 2000/- each (these are from wbt).

If I were you I would have invested in better spks, then anyhow if you are happy with them then so be it. each man to himself. Remember if what you hear makes you happy then so be it.

Hi there.

Thanks for the reply. I got the mission speakers because they came out on top in the latest what hifi magazine. They said they were excellent value and sounded like much expensive speakers. Although i havent got them wired in yet! How do you get the speaker wire in the back of the amp?

I unscrewed the screw thing and there is then a hole but its not very big. How do u get the speaker wire in and the screw back in?
