Dear Friends, What's the upgrade valves to stock Russian EH6922? These have been used in a CD player. What I found is ECC88/E88CC are the upgrades. Any suggestions from the Tube Experts? Found stock EH6922 sounds slightly compressed, expect improvements in openess & dynamics. This is for a known person. Tnks |

go to the Audioasylum, click on FAQ then scroll down & click on "Joe's Tube Lore". It's *not* the be all & end all of tube rolling but it's a start. It'll tell you that you will be opening up a HUGE door & will be entering into a world onto itself when you start tube rolling. Scroll down "Joe's Tube Lore" & you'll see his experiences with the 6922/6DJ8, etc tubes. This should get you started... |

Dear BW & Manek thanks for the response. I was told that, ususaly British make tubes like ECC88 etc sounds better than Russian make EH6922. Is this true?. Me & my frined are infants in this Tubes world It's the curiosity simply pushing us to experiment. Tnks |

Talking of british tubes, I am running a pair of old brimar 6sn7's and loving them. Ofcourse they are better in every way to the eh 6sn7's which I also have. So it will be true for you too if they are nos. Why don't ypu browse thru kevin deals website. He gives short descriptions of the tubes he sells. Could get an idea from there. Manek |

Hi You could also try http://tctubes.com/ I have bought two pairs of 45 triodes from them. The tubes are good and are as described on the site. Shipping is prompt and prices reasonable. They have a good selection of 6922/ECC88 tubes. Tyler is a good guy to deal with and his knowledge of tubes is extensive. Regards Rajiv |

Nice read. I use 12ax7 (ecc83) in my preamp.I went through his three part discourse on the 12 ax7. This guy runs down all (ecc83) versions of the 12ax7(Including most of the legendary NOS tubes) He prefers the cheaper 5751 versions ………I wonder [Beitrag von square_wave am 30. Probably becuase he likes em and doesn't want to spend a lot :-) Actually, I do like the indian bel 12ax7 too. Don't want to run down other tubes but if one gets a matched pair, I think its a very good tube.bel's aren't considered excellent by many either. Manek |

I agree. I think these are all equipment/implementation and preference related I frankly have never noticed any of what he has observed with the ECC 83 tubes. I have heard some of the most focused images out of setups using ECC 83 tubes. None of the Fuzziness he mentions. |
