Hi there, I have a Onkyo SR574 receiver. But bit confused about TV and DVD Player to buy. I am thinking of philips-29pt883694 (100 hz) and also Philips 5965 after some research. Do you geeks have any other suggestion ? Thanks a lot |

I own Samsung 100 Hz 29 Inch CRT TV. One single word 'Brilliant'. Many time visitor at my home assumed it as a LCD! Philips is also good but After sales support could be an issue. Don't touch the SONY 29 CRT 34K+. As far as screen real estate is concerned 29 inch CRt and 26 inch LCD are almost same and now you can get 26 inch LCD almost at the same price of 100 HZ , 29 inch CRT. Have a look at Pioneer DVD 696 (12~13K) , it does SACDand DVD-A too. And there are Denons, Onkyo, Yamaha from 20K+. Samsung has got an excellent DVDP some 9XXX seies. Philips is also reputed for good DVDP. Hope this helps. |

You are correct. The quality of TataSky is actually quite crappy. Look closely at the outlines of images, eg a Cricket player on the field. Every time he moves, the outline pixelises ( breaks up ). DVDs are FAR better. TataSky is NO benchmark for picture quality. |
