Free tweak (?)to improve midrange & Bass.

Was getting worried due to an apparent loss in midrange and bass in my speaker. image was getting a bit fuzzy and bass not tight enough.

while contemplating a speaker change..on an inspiration just checked the screws on my woofer and found them loose!!
Once i tightened them the bass just tightened up beautifully and midrange cleared up !

an mighty thrilled about this (The pumped up fist really scared my visiting mother in law..ill hear her version from my wife tomorrow

) so thought ill share it..maybe will work with some of you as well.

(Was extra careful since i had the really scary picture of a slipping screwdriver piercing those woofers

)

So check them screws and bolts gentlemen!!! This ain't no snakeoil.

Yes ARJ,

That's very correct & important point. And it is reccomended that these screws be tightened once every few months.

It's surely good for the lower end response

To avoid this, many manufacturers use Allen Key screws or screws with Hexagonal heads that be tightened with a box spanner, rather than a screw driver...

Us lazy folks who have all in one driver sets, have the allen screw also in it..!! so the danger remains

On a more serious note: do be careful on HOW MUCH you tighten these speaker driver screws. Usually, each manuf has a certain amount of torque that is applied to the screws that makes them tight enough not to rattle but not so tight that it adversely affects the woofer performance or damages the woofer basket surround.
DO be careful NOT to be over-zealous & tighten the screw too much - you could crack the rim of the woofer!
