Hi all, Does anyone have any idea if there is a gadget, like some kind of meter, using which we can determine the output capacity of an amp. if yes, then where can we get it in Delhi and for how much. |

Noooooooooo And if anyone tries to sell you one for less than the price of a budget amplifier, you are being CONNED The way to measure power, is to connect the load ( usually a resistor) accross the amplifier, and crank it up all the way till it is Just about to distort. You need to look at the waveform for that, my friend.... an oscilloscope, and a distortion meter or a spectrum analyser.... Heavy techie stuff Typically, amps will deviver 30% or More, than their rated power, if you ignore the distortion ( ie do not monitor the waveform ) |

There is a SPL meter available in the US for measuring sound pressure level. It may be used to measure sound pressure coming from a speaker that reaches your ear, and gives you the effect of AMP+Speaker combined. Does anyone know if a SPL meter is available in India. - Debu |

YES. At Lamington Road, Mumbai, you can buy an Industrial sound presssure meter SPL. The industrial meter does not measure 20 Hz to 20KHz, but has a restricted freq response to measure Noise Pollution.. |

How does the industrial meter compare with the Radio Shack one that costs around $50? Does it measure average Spl or peak Spl? |
