Subwoofer: Wharfie SW-150 or the Velodyne VX-10?

(semi-classicals, ghazals, other vocal-oriented songs and slow rock)

I haven't yet comeacross a sub which is specific to music, but Velodyne gets my vote over Wharfedale but what price are we talking about here Juggy???...If price is not a consideration at all just gun into VX 10

I would say you stick to Wharfdale because...
If you do a google, you will find that the Velodyne VX-10 is a very cheap entry level product from Velodyne and is priced at $167..which comes to just Rs.7600 and you will be paying atleast 3 times that amount (25k) here in India to get one from Music Ranch...
Whereas the Wharfdale is priced at $400+ in almost all the sites that I visited so you are almost paying the same amount (18k) here in India...which means more VFM and also this sub has won many awards all throughout..so stick to it.

The last thing is (the most important one), hear them yourself and decide.

Dear friend lets not compare things in this perspective..Velo's priced at 550$ are sold for 75k here, so take a stab. talking about VFM is two fold approach, one is good sound VFM and another as you've mentioned above..so Juggy take a close audition and let us know which sub matched the pace of your bookshelf midbass with authority.

After all you are SUB_BOSS so anything regarding sub...your suggestions cant be surpassed..

You can try KEF PSW 2500 priced at 28k or Mission M 70AS priced at 22k

Buddy, that way, Definitive Technolgy is one of the best subs in under 25k...but you need to hear them. Actually its not very often that you get to hear subs with music...forget about doing a A/B . But if you go with an intention to buy, then you may be able to get demo of subs attached to music. So its now left to you to go over and listen. Frankly speaking you may not get much help from this forum on subs.
You have to listen to them...no other short-cuts here.
