Hi, My 14 Year old Pulz RS250's volume control has gone bad. Its a 10K Pot. I'd like to change both vol controls. The existing one has a nice weighted feel. I want a similar one. Which is the best available here in Bangalore? Which make? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

Hunt around for an Vintage pot on SP road...we used to get good pots in early days...not anymore. Better option is to order an alps pot from RS components (Rs.1800/-). Cheers Siva. |

Manek, Please keep me posted on any tweaks you find out for the Pulz amp. XandY I am surprised that the Pulz amp actually works after 14 years. I hope that they have maintained that build quality. Normal mini-compos conk out within 7 yrs. |

Hi Siva, When you said "RS Components" did you mean R&S Electronics who makes Pulz or was that a shop on SP Road? http://www.rns.co.in/docs/contact.htm Thanks |

XandY, You can order at www.rsindia.com They are very responsive. Manek, Try upgrading caps in the power supply. Usually they make a big difference. Also try upgrading the potentiometer .. Cheers Siva. |

I was referring to the specs / dimensions of the pots. "10K" is all the spec i know. I hope these pots have the WEIGHTED feel. |

XandY, You are basically looking for a dual-gang potentiometer. Manek, I have heard Nobel has various grades...Blue (or Black ??) Velvet is supposed to be a superior grade. May be a search would help. Cheers Siva. |

Hi Siva, I guess Dual Gang refers to a single common vol control for both channels. I have separate vol controls for both channels. Thanks. |

Hi XandY, Sorry, i forgot the simpler way to control volume In this case you do not need a dual-gang. If the pot needs to be soldered on to the PCB, please make sure the pot you purchase will fit into the PCB layout(sorry i have not seen the inside of a Pulz amp). Also try you luck hunting for "Margonite" (i'm not very sure of the name) pots. They have been out of production for more than a decade...but i often find these in SP road. All the best.. Cheers Siva. |

Sorry Manek...alps. But Nobel is also a good choice for potentiometer. I have heard alps is available in Mumbai..slightly cheaper than RS components. But not sure whether they would be original.. Cheers Siva. |

If DaCT is expensive, then i would recommend the ALPS. DACT would cost about Rs.8800/- + VAT Cheers Siva. |

http://digitalanaloguediy.com/ has a nice 24-position stereo ladder attenuator for about $60. Attenuators are expensive, unless you make your own. DACT is one of the topline manufacturers, but there is some brand premium there (also the benefit of bulk buying). Lot of DIY people make their own attenuators, you can too, given the right switches and resistor values - it's not that tough and is a good beginner project. These don't have to be too expensive, but you'll have to search for a good deal. |
