Classical Concerts @ NCPA on Friday & Saturday

Hi !

We have 2 concerts that are scheduled to take place in Mumbai on Friday & Saturday [November, 25th & 26th]

Western Music Recital - Tata Theatre
Fri. 25th – 7:00 pm

In collaboration with the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Courtesy: City of Milan and La Scala Theatre.

The most renowned Soloist Trio of La Scala Theatre, Milan, will be performing at the NCPA:

Sandro Laffranchini (First Cello)
Fabrizio Meloni (First Clarinet)
Igor Longato (Piano)

The Trio will play arrangements of great works by Brahms, Zemlinsky and Rota as part of the Festa Italiana 2005.

Any forum members interested in attending ?

However, you will have to manage the tickets yourself.
That is very very difficult.

P.S. The best part is that we will get to listen to one of the best pianist of the 20th century for free. The shows tickets are being given out for free.
This can only happen in India if a 'BAWA' has somthing to do with it !!! I love it. I pray for their good health.

Dear Bhagwan,

I would like to know more about such concerts, eventhough I am far away from Bombay. Are these concerts organised by music clubs? Regarding tickets is it by invitation or are they sold to outsiders too?
Would like to know more about the concert halls in Mumbai, so that if I happen to make it to a concert I can choose to be at the best hall provided the performers are also equaly good.

National Centre for Performing Arts

It is under Tata.com

Just do a goofle search & you will find it;

This is their web address.

All - rather most of the classical concerts in Bombay are organised by Mehli Mehta Music Foundation. They have an office @ Kemps Corner. The person to meet there is Ms. Jasmina Daruwala. Call her up & get the details.

December, is always filled with many concerts.

The performance on the 25th of November, 2005 was a very very avarage one to say the least.

On a scale of 10 this performance was a mere 4.

The Pianist - Igor Longato was fully off [time] most of the time.

This was not a performance to write home about.

Rather disappointing !

YEFIM BRONFMAN - is a GOD !!!!

26.11.2005.

This was the best performance of a Sonata I have ever heard in my life !!!!!

What an evening.

Beethoven # 13 & 14 were played with Johanes Brahms # 5.
The Encore was Scarleti & Chopian.

Mr. Yefim Bronfman played like a king. The performance was brilliant.

How I wish all the Forum members got the chance to attend this show. It would have been a real eye opener [ear cleaner] !!!!!!!!

Mehli Mehta Music Foundation & Dr. Hamied [Cipla] Congratulations [main sponsors] !!!!!
