can u please name some excellent preamps which give very beautiful sound but it must be solidstate ones. Which one do u recommend. Please name some good brands, prices and their performance. Ive experienced with Rotels but sound little bit bright.

What is the price range you are looking at? You may want to try Arcam preamps.

its not just like cost man its all about the performance. I just wanted to know how good it will be the highend ones and about the prices.

ok the price bracket is about 30k to 45k... can u tell me which preamp will come for that price and how will be the performance....

doubt if you are going to get a cost justifiable pre amp at that price... till the range of around 50K, an Int amp will serve you better.

IT is from the price of around 1K USD perhaps that you would find Pre amps which make the difference...

would suggest reading reviews on the web for that.(You could try Ecoustics.com

thank u Arj but I do know about the Ecoustics.com ive been watching that site since the past 6 years.... thanks alot...but see for some excellent preamps please suggest a brand and price.

well, have not really individually paid attention to pre amps, but two I have really heard are the Sugden Bijou Headmaster and the Conrad Johnson PV10 ..i guess in different price brackets.
But cannot really comment on their individual sounds as to me preamps are just a way of controlling volume and providing multi inputs

well actually havent heard them but both r under 40000 (if u consider Indian price)

One of the best pre-amps I have seen is Quad 99 (I am not sure about the model number but most probably it was 99).
The price is within 60k......it has the ultimate mids that I have ever heard. Infact it showed me the magic of mids..
