Manek, where to audition Cadence in Mumbai?

The audio shop is called J&B sound. Its at bandra, off linking road, opposite to amarsons. The owner of the showroom is Jacob. He usually has the va 1.0, arita bookshelf, diva dynamic floorstander and entry level electrostat avita (my favourite ) but sometimes has the Arista as well.

manek, I thought the Anina was the entry level..Have you ever auditioned that ?
How does it rate on Dynamics and low end grunt ?

Hi ARJ,

Cadence has a completely new line of electrostats for the last 2 years or more. Anina and Amaya are older generation speakers. A free update for you....

They have two lines currently :
a) Dynamic - Arita(which I own) and Diva
b) Electrostatic hybrid - Avita, Arista, Arca IV. The Anina and Amaya are previous generation models, very good speakers never the less. They are still made to order if someone wants them I think.

The dynamics of the later generation of avita and arista are better than the anina and amaya. The panel also is faster and more transparent. The dynamic driver compliment in both generations are from ETON but different drivers. The crossovers are better as well. The driver integration between the panel and eton cones is far better in the later models.

The dynamics on the whole for all speakers are quite something. You need to give them a bit of space to perform. Sadly none of the showrooms they are auditioned in do justice to the space requirement. The bass quality is quite lovely, it won't hit you in the chest but very musical all the way down. Classical symphonic music crecendo's are quite exciting and transition from low quiet passages to high energy stuff is well handled.

The Anina though smaller than Amaya is rated at 28hz +-3db of low grunt and I have heard them, they do go low.

Amaya is the bigger speaker and is rated at 35hz +-3db I think, but gives you a bigger fuller sound.

The avita (which is my favourite and the entry level electrostat)is rated 35hz +-3db and the Arista at 30hz +-3db. Arista has obviously a bigger sound and is a bit clinical in its rendition but the Avita is sweet and I feel the more transparent of the two.

The Arca (flagship) is rated at 24hz at +-3db.

All speakers work well with tubes and that's what makes them even more interesting !

Is cadence ARCA IV a three way design now?

All cadence speakers are two way designs only. Trying to mate 2 dynamic drivers with the electrostatic panel would be quite a nightmare I would think !
