Do B&W have a listening room in Bangalore with proper stereo setup ? I am 70/30 percent music/movie guy. I plan to drive them with a NAD C370 amp.

Do you have any model in mind ? your amp should be able to drive them well enough. You can try the B&W website to see if there are any Blr dealers. |

I have seen B&W at 2-3 places in Blore but none of them seemed to have a proper setup to demonstrate them. All these dealers were using AVRs to demonstrate B&W 603 and 604 models, what a s**t . For your information you can try Modern World at Domlur. There are few others also. |

not surprised as B&W is part of the xcanvas strategy of onkyo, lg and B&W. you could try taking your amp to the dealers if they dont have stereo amps to audition... manek. |

I can’t afford the nautilus series big ones. I was thinking of the 700 series because I find most models in the 600 series to sound awful. While in the US I had the opportunity to listen to a DIY kit speaker by north creek audio owned by a friend. It sounded much nicer than the dm 603 he owned. There was no competition. I think he sold the 603 soon. The only speaker I find reasonably good in the 600 series is the dm602 which is ok because it is a standmount and simple 2 way design. I want to see how much value addition I will get if I go up the ladder to the 700 series. Anybody own any 700 series here ? Need to check out Jamo too. Any other options ? I can spend upto 70k on a fullrange speaker. I need to check out cadence also. I guess the diva falls in my budget. |

Yes Manek is right..they do allow you to carry your own amp..but generally they refuse this during peak business hours...huh you can try some boring afternoon.. It's surprising that B&W have good range for stereo and why foil it up paired with some entry level Onkyo AVR's to make them sound horrible.. |

Do try out Magnepans if you can find a local dealer. Excellent sound for vocals and jazz. Avoid them if you are a bass freak. I have had a bad experience with entry level B&Ws. The floorstander's cabinet vibrates even at low volumes. Cabinet shape is not optimised. Tweeter is not externally mounted. In short no B&W technologies. Just a high price for the brand name. Locally made stuff would outdo them! |

I could not make it to any showrooms this weekend. I traveled to Cochin and had the chance to listen to a pair of Jamo d870 owned by a colleague which costs around 2 lakh in India. I got to listen to the B&W CDM9NT also with rotel electronics. I spend almost a day with these goodies listening to a wide variety of music. I was certainly impressed by the Jamo but not so much with the B&W’s. The Jamo is a class act ! But at what price am I getting them? Looks like I will pick my speakers from the US itself next time I go. Need to check our customs regulations though. I had a chance to listen to a pair of northcreek speakers in NY. I think it was the Rythm series speaker kit from Northcreek-audio – a small time high-end kit manufacturer. http://www.northcreekmusic.com/ I would say the quality is very comparable or even better with some music with the north creeks. He drives them with a modest Arcam A85. I guess a pair costs around 1400 $. Will be traveling in a couple of months. Will keep you posted. |
