no hurry ben,
you can keep murthy's finesse jumpers longer. told you that they will show you what they can do only after they get burnrd in for atleast 100 hours. then give it a shot. you still dont like them, then ur most welcome to return them anytime. Remember what i told you? go with what your ears tell you.

Rgds

Prithvi

PS: swap the finesse jumpers after 100 hours for the original nad jumpers and then see/hear for your self.

i don't know. i think i better do a test with me Harman Kardon cause there is not that big a difference between the Nad and the yamaha. u see the things that really stand out are the highs and the mids(vocals). the nad just excells in the vocals and the highs are more detailed than the yamaha. but the bass seems to be lacking in the nad compared to the yamaha.
u see when i listen to the yamaha i put it in 2 ch stereo mode while this is supposed to be processed the direct stereo mode is unprocessed. so is the direct stereo mode equivalent to the tone defeat mode on the Nad. if so then the Nad beats the yamaha. but in 2 ch mode the bass seems to be more so in the yamaha. keep in mind that i am using digital interconnects for the yamaha and analog for the Nad. i wonder if this makes a difference?the one thing i' m impressed about is the highs.it has really opened up(in the Nad). i wonder if prithvi is willing to run a test for my Harman kardon at his place to sort this out.

Gen , the Bass problem of the NAD CDP is also due to its transport & casing. Once you dampen it, the bass improves
(I have put Caulk & Cork on the insides of the casing. also Blue tack on the underside of the drawer.
the authority of the Bass inproves considerably.

Someone I know puts a 1 mm cork sheet (Around the same size/shape) over the CD in the drawer and apparently that also helps although i have never tried it

guys, i have listened to quite a few speakers in the 20-30 k range. among all of them i just have to say my diamonds are the BEST.better than the sonodyne than the Kef cresta 30 and Kef coda 90.and even better than the mission m74i.
but there are some speakers i have yet to listen to. like the athenas, acoustic energy and now the polk. but it definitely is quite a tall order indeed foer them to impress me over my Diamonds. . after having them for over 7 months now tthey keep getting better and better.
regds,
Benks

that's right i'm in love with my Diamonds.

so is it "Diamonds are a Benks best friend" ?

Benks, IMHO the Nad 542 is better in terms of detail,..but from what i have heard the Marantz might be the better in terms of musicality (Although it has a grainy treble..it offers itself for modding). If you want to do some modding choose the Marantz..there are even case of putting atube output stage into it like the Heart CD6000

Respond please.
